Genesis10 is seeking a RPG Developer for a contract with our client in Brookfield, WI. Job Description: Under the supervision of the Director of Information Technology, the Senior Programmer/Analyst position maintains and creates software programs to support the information needs of the company. The Information Technology department operates understanding that their number one tenet is to Develop a Customer Service Driven Culture within the Information Technology Department. Key Responsibilities: The below functions reflect the general details necessary to describe the essential functions of this position and should not be construed as a detailed description of all of the position's work requirements. Other duties may be assigned. Perform system design, system development, and system support for Old Republic Surety Company's (ORSC's) AS400 applications primarily using RPG, RPGLE, COBOL, CL, and SQL programming languages. Utilize AS400 based software and tools such as RLU, SDA, SEU, Spoolflex, Query Manager, etc. Design, develop, and support processes that interact with the AS400 applications, the e-SURETY application, and our web based applications. Implement and support add-ons” to the AS400. Identify and implement processes to reduce cost and improve applications' run-times. Create support documents for developed software. Communicate and consult with Underwriting, Claims, and the Finance departments regarding the support of our current applications and the design of new system enhancements and business initiatives. Offer suggestions. Suggest improvements to ORSC's existing software and business processes. Utilize the IT Department's Project Methodologies. Keep a solid understanding of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). Manage multiple software projects through project lifecycle. Required Basic Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. This position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/MIS/CIS/Engineering or equivalent education, and five years in software engineering using RPG, COBOL, CL and SQL in an AS400 environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This position involves contact which influences persons outside the company on matters to maintain harmonious relationships. This position does not require one to travel. This position requires one to work independently and effectively within a fast-paced environment. Proficiency with Microsoft (MS) Windows and Office products is necessary. This position also requires proficiency in the use of computer systems. Other skills necessary include excellent oral and written communication skills, accurate proofreading skills, the ability to maintain accurate records, the ability to exercise discretion with confidential information, excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to use a variety of office equipment. This position also requires knowledge of computer hardware including desktops, laptops, printers, and scanners. Other skills necessary include a working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat Professional, Anti-virus software, and memory upgrading.
