Job Summary and QualificationsThe Respiratory Therapist coordinates and delivers high-quality, patient-centered respiratory care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. As a vital part of the patient care team, the Respiratory Therapist performs a variety of diagnostic tests and therapeutic procedures and monitors patients receiving invasive and noninvasive mechanical ventilation.
What you will do in this role:
* You will perform general respiratory therapy to all ages in accordance with age specific criteria including incentive breathing devices, aerosol therapy, chest physiotherapy, oxygen therapy and suctioning.
* You will perform and evaluate diagnostic studies to include bedside spirometry, pulmonary mechanics and blood gas analysis.
* You will demonstrate team work, adaptability, and serve as a resource to the patient care team.
* You will have accountability for delivering quality respiratory services and for promoting a positive image of the department.
* Graduate of an AMA approved Respiratory Therapy program required.
* Credentialed as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) in the state of Texas is required.
* 1 year of experience is a hospital setting is preferred.
* Current BLS Certification is required.
* ACLS, PALS, and NRP are preferred.
