Job Description: SAFe Practice Consultant Location: Remote Rate: $85 w2 Duration: This is a 12-month contract position, with the potential for extension based on performance and project needs. Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced SAFe Practice Consultant to join our team. This role is integral to the evolution of our business as we transition towards a more Agile model. The consultant will work closely with the hiring manager, Justin Bagley, and various stakeholders to design and implement training plans, fostering the development of Agile values and practices within the organization. Key Responsibilities:
- Design and Implementation: Collaborate with Justin Bagley and other stakeholders to create an implementation plan for training leaders and stakeholders. This includes developing values and release training, identifying and addressing pain points, and making necessary adjustments.
- Training and Development: Understand the training needs of the organization and drive process changes. Design improvements and scale implementations across the business within the first three months.
- Planning and Coordination: Plan and coordinate training sessions and Agile workflow implementations, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
- Change Management: Lead change management initiatives, presenting process and improvement changes to leaders within the organization.
- Collaboration: Work effectively with other vendors and internal product owners who are currently operating under a Waterfall model. Facilitate the transition to a Skilled Agile approach where it is beneficial.
- Documentation: Utilize JIRA as the primary tool for project documentation, ensuring all processes and changes are well-documented and accessible.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a people person, working closely with stakeholders to understand their needs and ensure their buy-in for Agile implementations.
- Present Solutions to Executive Team Skills and Qualifications
- SAFe Certification: Must hold a SAFe Practice Consultant certification.
- Agile Experience: Proven experience in leading SAFe implementations and a solid understanding of Agile principles.
- Training and Development: Strong ability to design and deliver training programs to leaders and stakeholders.
- Change Management: Expertise in change management, with the ability to present and implement process improvements.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in using JIRA for project documentation and tracking.
- Adaptability: Ability to work in a hybrid model, with onsite presence preferred once a week (Tuesdays) in Oakland, CA. Remote work is an option with occasional onsite visits. Location and Work ModelThe position is based in Oakland, CA. A hybrid work model is preferred, with the candidate coming onsite once a week, typically on Tuesdays. Remote work is also an option if the candidate can commit to occasional onsite visits. Onsite presence is considered a huge bonus.
Team Model:The consultant will be working with product owners who are currently operating under a Waterfall scope. The goal is to gradually implement Skilled Agile practices where it makes sense. A base knowledge of Agile methodologies is a plus.Target Skills and Certifications:

- Proficiency in using JIRA for project documentation and tracking ChallengesThe consultant will face challenges such as reorganizing the work mindset of the current staff and adjusting methodologies to fit the Agile model. The ability to understand and address these challenges will be crucial for successful implementation.Interview ProcessThe interview process will be conducted by a panel of three representatives from PG&E. The target is to have initial interviews next week, with one or possibly two rounds of interviews. The aim is to select a candidate by February 7th. Interviews are expected to last around 30-40 minutes, but candidates should plan for up to an hour.
