Safety Coordinator

Management and Construction Solutions Inc, an industry leader in the management of construction upgrades and installations of large industrial projects, is looking for an experienced Safety Coordinator with experience in Industrial Construction. This is a full-time year-round position with an immediate 8-month assignment in Skowhegan, ME. Permanent relocation is not required but onsite work is required for 20-25 days per month. A per diem allowance for housing and food as well as compensated travel between site and home are provided.

The Safety Coordinator will report to the Safety Manager and will be responsible for implementing customer, project site specific, OSHA, and other applicable safety policies and procedures across the project. This position will spend a majority of their time in the field, monitoring personnel for compliance with safety rules and regulations. The safety coordinator must be capable of working at heights and wearing personal fall arrest systems, use stairways, scaffolds, and ladders, work in cold and hot environments, walk long distances, stand for long periods of time and wear personal protective equipment. Other duties of the safety coordinator are as follows but not limited to:

· Participate in and or conduct safety meetings

· Coordinate with all contractor safety representatives

· Conduct field safety compliance assessments

· Participate in behavioral based safety observations. This includes data collection and analysis

· Facilitate permits required for work, i.e. Hot Work, Confined Space, etc.

· Where applicable, implement substance abuse program and conduct required testing

· Complete necessary reports using Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

· Communicate with and support various Construction Managers and Coordinators

· Monitor, support, and engage with vendors, visitors, manufacturers to ensure their safety while on the project

· Review and assess safety plans for all scopes of work

· Review and assist with incident investigations

· Conduct required training for company employees as needed.

· Facilitate contractor kick-off meetings

· Take immediate action on any imminent danger situations observed.

· Provide safety information, best practices, and appropriate coaching to employees, contractors, supervisors, and management

· Other duties may be applicable dependent on customer requirements

Qualifications:

- OSHA 30 or greater

- 5+ years' verifiable experience, in the field of industrial construction safety

- Ability to think critically and independently to make sound decisions
