THE JOB: SAFETY MANAGER
As the Safety Manager, you and your team will be responsible to provide safety for the LaPlaya Beach and Golf Resort guests, members, employees, and property against fire, theft, vandalism, illegal entry, and other circumstances that would disturb the peace and good order of resort. You lead the safety of the team by example as you provide attentive and responsive services to protect guests, members, and employees. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, you are a gracious ambassador for LaPlaya with every interaction. As the Safety Manager, the day-to-day you will develop and initiate long and short-term strategic programs to ensure the resort, team members, guests are kept safe while on site. You and your team will be responsible for patrolling the the buildings and grounds, including the parking areas, and reporting any irregularities such as fire hazards, water leaks, or equipment that looks to need repair.
Any equipment problems or maintenance needs are addressed or shared with the appropriate team for immediate resolution. You are the main of contact between the President/CEO and appropriate senior leaders. You sound alarms and call emergency services as needed. You take pride in maintaining situational awareness, ensuring the property is peaceful and safe, and guarding against potential theft. You investigate theft or losses, and report to the scene of any accident or injury to respond and assist as needed. You assist the LaPlaya team members with pending guest situations as requested. You liaison with and support local law enforcement and emergency services when they are onsite.
You exhibit a high level of coordination, communication, and teamwork with related departments. You have a key role in staff development, including assisting with the selection and training of new team members, participating in performance rewards and evaluations, support documentation and payroll. You train team members to ensure security standards are consistently met. You provide meaningful individual job performance feedback and coaching.
You set the tone with your strong ethics and by consistently upholding and ensuring compliance with departmental procedures, including standards for quality, timing, attendance, and appearance. You maintain your knowledge of Sea Island's properties, services, and offerings, and share this information with guests, members, and team members. You are generous with your support and help resolve any service issues that arise in a timely and positive way, following up as needed. You are proactive in aiding when needed and are willing to help with other areas or duties as requested.
Requirements
You can own it if you have,
* Minimum seven (7) years private security, law enforcement or equivalent management experience
* Possess a valid Florida driver's license
* Confident use of standard office equipment, skilled in the use of Microsoft Office programs, and the ability to work in multiple new software programs
* Safety mindset and Current CPR/AED certification
* Physical strength and stamina to perform a safety role, maintain ongoing, prolonged physical activity, indoors and outdoors in varying weather, throughout a scheduled day to include lifting 50+ pounds, comfort with noise levels, electrical, chemical, and fume hazards with or without a reasonable accommodation
* Ability to kneel, crouch, squat, climb, stand, sit, reach, stretch, bend, push, pull, and walk for prolonged periods
* Timeliness and flexibility - you agree to work a flexible schedule. We work at peak business hours, which for us includes weekends, early mornings, evenings, and holidays
* Communication skills in English, both written and verbal, Spanish is a plus
