Does related work as required. Work is performed under the regular supervision of the principal. This is light work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects, and some medium work requiring the exertion of 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; work requires stopping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, and noise.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TYPICAL TASKS:

• Maintains safe and orderly environment of the school campus
• Monitors front entrance access
• Maintains visitor log, checks IDs, issues visitor passes
• Monitors restrooms, halls, restrooms throughout the day
• Ensures that all exit doors are locked at all times
• Reports school violations to administration
• Assists administration with safety drills and crisis situations
• Agree to attend formal training on school security
• Other duties as assigned by the principal or supervisor as deemed appropriate

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• General knowledge of the practices concerning rules and regulations, and appropriate methods of dealing with misconduct;
• Ability to deal effectively with students and teachers;
• Ability to recognize and identify activities or situations which have or may become a problem or emergency requiring immediate attention;
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions;
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with teachers, parents, students and the general public.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to work effectively with school staff, students and parents
• Experience in security related work preferred
• Basic computer skills
