Work involves interacting with patrons; conducting facility security checks and safety inspections; and assisting with traffic/parking and customer service at events. This position also makes sure the patrons' experience is positive and safe.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Interacts with park patrons to determine continuous quality improvement opportunities; enhances the overall park experience for patrons.
- Educates patrons on park rules and expectations.
- Conducts safety inspections of facilities, worksites, equipment, work practices, and safety devices; ensures compliance with workplace regulations and guidelines.
- Conducts facility safety checks at Richland County Recreation Commission (RCRC) facilities.
- Submits safety report to management; makes follow-up inspections as needed.
- Conducts visits to RCRC sites including parks, recreation centers, boat ramps, and tennis/golf facilities, etc. for security, cleanliness, and usability on a daily basis.
- Driving to and from different locations within the Agency.
- Assists with traffic and parking control at sporting and special events.
- Assists park staff in monitoring agency events (crowd control) and customer service.
- Checks gates and fences at athletic fields for security.
- Consults with park maintenance and leagues' staff to ensure sports playing fields are safe and free of potential hazards.
- Assists with coordination of safety programs within the workers' compensation and risk management areas.
- Performs related duties as directed when such duties are a logical and appropriate assignment to the position.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or GED.
- One (1) year of related work experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of safety/security principles, policies, and practices of safety/security programs.
- Knowledge of continuous quality improvement practices.
- Knowledge of word processing and database software applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
- Skill in communicating, both verbally and in writing.
- Skill in providing customer service.
- Ability to work well with others.
- Ability to work as a team member.
- Ability to resolve problems, especially in sensitive situations.
- Ability to adjust to interruptions and changing priorities.
CERTIFICATION, LICENSE, AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must possess a valid Driver's License to drive an RCRC vehicle
- C.P.R certified
