Our connection to the larger metropolitan area is essential to our success and provides a wealth of diverse cultural and recreational opportunities.Primary Duties and Responsibilities: The College of DuPage Safety Specialist reports to the Coordinator of Risk Management and works with the entire Environmental, Health, and Safety team in order to implement, and oversee, College wide safety programs, and initiatives, that support the mission of the College.
Oversee the College wide safety training program by working with individual departments to determine safety objectives, assigning training courses, and monitoring completion rates. Assist departments with specific training needs by locating outside training opportunities if needed.Assist with the evaluation of College safety programs, building systems, and equipment by conducting weekly inspections to identify unsafe conditions, and recommended corrective actions.Guide College departments into compliance with current safety regulations as mandated by local, state, and federal agencies including the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).Work with departments to conduct job hazard analysis in order to identify the safety hazards associated with specific tasks and to collaborate on managing them.Oversee the College wide AED program to insure that equipment is in good condition.Support accident investigations by collecting of photos and collection of statements. Evaluate accident details to determine the need for new or modified training.Assist Facilities with fire code inspections and prevention activities.Complete Ergonomic assessment training in order to evaluate and assist College employees to improve their workspacesAssist with ADA compliance concerns.Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.Qualifications:
- Education
- Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent experience required.
- Bachelor's Degree with concentration in Environmental Health and Sciencepreferred.
- Experience
- Minimum 2 years in Environmental Health and Safety required.
- 2+ years in EHS in Higher Ed. or other educational settingpreferred.

Various testing and monitoring equipment.Office and field work (indoor/outdoor).This position requires a background check and drug screen.Hiring Range: Classified 10 Hourly/24.00 - 26.00 Competitive starting pay is dependent on education and experience.
