When you join our Purina Hereford, TX factory you are not only joining a leader in natural and organic pet food, you are joining a tight knit community focused on creating the most nutritious and wholesome food for pets.The Safety Specialist is responsible for assisting the Safety Manager in training, maintaining records, and providing additional administrative support. They will provide supervision and coordination to the plant Safety representative in promoting a Safety culture and directing the plant Safety Programs.Schedule is mid-shift
  • Engage in a safe and healthy work environment to strive for zero accidents. Maintain a safe working environment in compliance with the plant policies, local laws, and OSHA Standards.
  • Ensure completion of behavioral based safety observations and communication.
  • Provide indirect supervision to the plant Safety Representatives to ensure consistent and proactive application of the plants Safety Programs.
  • Conducts and assists with new hire safety training including record keeping.
  • Responsible to assist the Safety and Training Manager in administering all safety and employee development related programs and recordkeeping. Provides training and development to all plant employees during monthly and quarterly safety activities and training.
  • Filing of all safety related forms and documents.
  • Assumes all other duties as assigned by reporting Manager.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED
  • 1+ years' experience in a safety role in a production, manufacturing, agriculture, industrial, military or related environment.
  • Bilingual - Spanish proficiency
The approximate pay range for this position is $48,000 to $89,000. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities as well as geographic location.
