Job DescriptionThe Role:Assist in development, implementation, and administration of safety and health policies, programs, and procedures to maintain regulatory compliance and a safe workplace. Perform required safety and health training and maintaintraining database tracking system. Facilitate audit programs to improve EHS Compliance.How You will Make an Impact:EHS Management Systems and Compliance:
  • Schedule and/or conduct regulatory required training for all site employees within EHS areas of responsibility.
  • Assist in the development and evaluation of training programs.
  • Conduct New Employee Orientation and refresher training in various safety topics as required.
  • Serve as alternative member for CAER and LEPC representative for the site.
  • Practice Responsible Care Management through active participation and adherence to the Guiding Principles of the Responsible Care Management System and contribute to the sustainability of the OSHA VPP Program by continuing to uphold the principles demonstrated as a STAR site.
  • Support and follow SI Group's ISO Quality programs, policies and procedures.
  • Develop constructive relations while maintaining respect and confidence of team members, and vendors/suppliers to enhance SI Group's reputation.
People Leadership:
  • Lead by example showing commitment to safety and compliance through adherence to established EHS policies when interacting with all individuals conducting company business including internal and external customers.
  • Cultivate a more highly skilled, motivated, and effective work group through direct, focused communication.
Safety and Department Support:
  • Support the EHS Team maintaining a service organization reputation throughout the site by engaging with all individuals in an effective and professional manner.
  • Promote safety awareness of all site personnel through training and other communication vehicles.
  • Assist in reviewing health and safety related regulations, and other written material.
  • Assist with development, implementation, and administration of safety and health policies, programs, and procedures to ensure a healthy and safe workplace.
  • Assist in site EHS training analysis and delivery as required.
  • Provide permitting and expertise in Hot Work Permits, Confined Space Entry Permits, Line Breaking/Process Entry Permits, and other safety standards.
  • Conduct and/or oversee IH and noise monitoring.
  • Provide off hours technical support in areas of responsibility when EHS Manager is not available. This will require carrying a cellular telephone to maintain contact with the site.
  • Provide back-up support for EHS Technician safety responsibilities as needed.
Auditing and Program Evaluation:
  • Lead and participate in audits of Safety systems, including Job Permitting, Isolation of Energy, Confined Space Entry, etc.
  • Update RC14001 manual as needed to align with site practices.
  • Assist with maintaining OSHA VPP programs for the site.
  • Assist with the Internal Management Review annual audit.
Emergency Response:
  • Assist with site emergency response efforts, training, and administration.
  • Help coordinate medical, rescue, and fire training events/classes/schools for the site.
  • Assist in the accurate record keeping of all training performed (on and off site) for SI-TX (PFPT & PBTN) as it relates to emergency response activities
  • Support annual inspections of Fire Extinguishers, SCBAs, Fire Hoses and all ER Fire and Rescue equipment.
  • Participate in Incident Management Team for assigned responsibilities if applicable.
Incident Investigations:
  • Conduct formal incident investigations to determine root causes and actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Track corrective action items to closure.
  • Assist in maintaining EPIC Incidents and Measurements and Action Tracking System App modules for the site.
*Complete other activities and provide support as requested by the department manager.Creating Extraordinary Starts With:
  • Bachelor's degree in safety and/or related EHS technical field
  • 5+ years of chemical plant safety experience
  • 2+ years of training experience including development, implementation, and administration of systems/programs
  • Emergency Response experience or program administration familiarity
Software:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other common PC applications.
  • Experience in LMS & Contractor Database applications.
  • SAP basic knowledge
