In this role, you will help to drive safe operations in one of the most critical operations for the company. The organization is a leading manufacturer of goods used in various industries used in automotive, agricultural, roofing, and fibers/textiles. The role will require you to help direct/coordinate safe activities within the site on a daily basis. You will promote the safety processes that are used day to day, driving people to believe and execute in a safe culture. You will be looked at as the floor role-model of safe operations, a walking SME of Safety processes that are driven from the top, down. You will be an internal resource to help monitor safety operations as well as surveillance of environments to be aligned with a safe working environment. This includes air/noise/hazard communications and other areas like laser, ventilation, radiation, and chemicals. This is a great opportunity for someone to begin a career path into Safety which is a critical aspect of any organization's structure. This position will give you the exposure to develop into a Safety professional and even into other areas of operational leadership in the future. This is a Monday-Friday, day-shift operation. There could be occasional work on weekends based on specific projects, although this is fairly uncommon.Primary responsibilities:- Assistance in directing and coordinating all safety and health related activities for the facility.- Promote and support the facility's line-driven safety process.- Assist department and plant management in achieving safety and business objective.- Assist in the development and implementation of a comprehensive safety management system. This includes providing leadership and being a resource to the Safety and Health Manager and the line organization.- Coordinate all industrial hygiene activities including medical surveillance, air monitoring, noise, hazard communication, laser, ventilation, radiation, chemical approval, and others.- Prevent occupational injury/illness related losses and minimize future liabilities by evaluating risks and establishing appropriate loss control/reduction activities.- Oversee the workers' compensation claims process by establishing a thorough and aggressive system to closely manage and monitor claims (new and old) from the time they are reported until closed out.- Coordinate the fire and disaster prevention programs including routine inspections/testing and issuance of hot work permits-acts as the Company liaison with the property issuance carrier and local fire authorities.- Helps coordinate the ergonomics program including risk identification and countermeasure.
