They will assist numerous departments (particularly Edmond Electric) with the implementation of this program, and conduct audits and inspections of job sites, buildings, and equipment to verify compliance with local, state, and federal laws. Additionally, they will develop and conduct safety training for departments. This position is scheduled to work four 10-hour days.Responsibilities
- Conduct job site, facility, and equipment audits and inspections
- Investigate accidents involving injuries, property damage, vehicle accidents, etc.
- Develop and conduct employee safety training
- Act as a safety resource for departments
- Review and update safety programs and policies
- Coordinate and lead the Safety Committee and meetings
- Assist with the investigation of tort claims
- Develop safety presentations and effectively present information to City employees, management, public groups, and/or boards of directors
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Safety or a related field
- 2 years of related experience and/or training
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 12 to 18 months of related management experience
- People or project management
- Valid Oklahoma Driver's License and a driving record acceptable to the City's insurance carrier
Preferred Certifications
- Graduate Safety Practitioner (GSP)
- OSHA 500 and/or 501
- OSHA 30 Hour for Construction and/or General Industry
Necessary Skills
- Skill with PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, and Excel
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal safety and environmental rules and regulations
- Knowledge of fields including safety, health, industrial hygiene, construction, etc.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with subordinates, supervisors, government officials, and the public
- Ability to develop safety presentations and present information.
- Ability to meet the required physical standards for this position
- Ability to pass extensive background process and pre-employment drug, physical, and audio screenings
