A prominent family-owned construction company is seeking a Safety Supervisor to coordinate safety procedures, oversee safety for construction crews in the field, and update safety protocols with leadership. Minimum requirements:
- 3-5 years of experience supporting safety protocols and procedures for bridge, road, and/or heavy highway construction projects.
- Ability to work outdoors, in the elements, on construction sites, drive to sites, work with/near mechanical parts, and lift and move up to 50 lbs.
- Significant experience developing, implementing, and evaluating safety plans and procedures in collaboration with HR leadership to ensure safety.
- Experience conducting horizontal construction site safety inspections, creating reports, and facilitating usage of necessary safety materials and PPE.
- An OSHA safety certification and/or Bachelors degree are preferred.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Work with construction crews on job sites, ensuring proper safety protocols are observed, keeping record of accidents, investigating accidents, and minimizing recurrence.
- Conduct safety training, schedule and administer classes for equipment training, and coordinate with foremen on field tests.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate safety procedures with HR leaders, and create programs to ensure worker safety.
- Drive to multiple sites in the greater Carbondale area to coordinate multiple work crews in the field.
