Job Description :

The Sales and Use Tax Accountant is part of a tax team and is responsible for filing accurate and timely multi-state tax returns, process business license renewals for various divisions and maintain sales tax compliance policies and procedures.

Essential Duties:

  • Prepare Sales and Use Tax Returns for multiple states and cities per division (75+ returns) within a two-week window
  • Prepare journal entries and manage general ledger monthly closing procedures within a 4-day window
  • Assist in booking use tax entries per division
  • File other monthly returns such as Sugar Taxes and Redemption Value
  • Assist with filing annual business license renewals and applications
  • Tax correspondence as needed and assist with audits for various local tax agencies
  • Compliance with multi-state sales and use tax laws
  • Assist with providing responses for inquiries from other business units
  • Complete assigned monthly account reconciliations in an accurate and timely manner
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business or accounting and 3+ years of experience in multi-state sales and use tax compliance
  • Microsoft Office proficiency: Outlook, Excel, Word, required
  • Experience with OneSource Indirect tax software, or other tax engine, a plus
  • Self-motivated, positive attitude and flexibility
  • Strong people skills with ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and switch gears seamlessly
  • Ability to manage workload utilizing various computer platforms/software applications
  • Ability to prioritize workload given various tasks with strict deadlines
  • Must be flexible and willing to work the demands of the department which may be subject to evenings, weekends and holidays
