Job Description Stamford Health is looking for a Full Time Retail Sales Associate. Under the direction of the director, works in conjunction with the Lead Retail Sales Specialist to assume outstanding customer service, merchandising, inventory control, and other related activities for the gift shop located in the main hospital lobby atrium. Provides input into display of merchandise, sales, new merchandise selection and the general marketing of the enterprise. The Retail Sales Specialist is also responsible for the aesthetic upkeep of the Gift Shop and will perform other duties and projects as assigned. The Gift Shop is a service, contributing to a hospital's healing environment and can be sources of revenue for the organization. It is imperative to exhibit outstanding customer service skills and to display caring, kindness and respect in all interactions. Providing outstanding customer service,information and conveniences with kindness and compassion demonstrates our values and always putting patients first. 1. Demonstrates outstanding customer service skills, and ensures quality service excellence for clients by creating a welcoming and aesthetically pleasing gift shop and ensuring strong thorough product knowledge. 2. Coordinates and performs computerized cash register sales transactions and cash management 3. Assists the Director and Lead Retail Sales Specialist i(LRSS) n all shop operations, to ensure all supplies, equipment are ordered, received, stored, inventoried or distributed according to best retail practices, and policies and regulations of the organization. 4.Provides sales coordination and problem resolution for floor customer service staff; performs direct sales and customer service as and when required. 5.Allocates and schedules work within the area, ensuring that all floor requirements are covered during operating hours; fills in for LRSS as required during PTO and other absences. 6.Monitors sales through the cash register; resolves discrepancies, prepares, reconciles, and records cash receipts for deposit. 7. Coordinates shipping and/or delivery of merchandise to patients, guests and staff. 8.In conjunction with Volunteer Visual merchandiser, participates in the development and set up of on-floor sales promotion campaigns. 9. Monitors general housekeeping cleanliness within the area; ensures that equipment and facilities remain in good repair, and that employee and customer safety standards are maintained. 10. Upholds and respects HIPAA laws regarding patient information and makes necessary judgments in accordance with hospital policies. 11. Responsible for creating and maintaining an overall pristine, neat and positive environment which includes the maintenance of merchandise, displays, Flower cooler, reading materials, plants and signage, and reports issues or concerns to the appropriate personnel. 12. Prioritizes assignments and completes responsibilities in a timely manner, conducting follow-up as necessary and assumes responsibility for assigned projects and follow through until completion. 13. Orders and maintains hospital supplies and documentation as needed for Gift Shop use. 14. Responsibilities will also include various projects as assigned. Qualifications - Two or more years' experience preferably in a healthcare setting performing similar duties. -HS Diploma or equivalent Required - Ability to work well with individuals at all organizational levels, particularly peers, team members, other departments, patients, and the community is required. - Superior verbal, organizational and interpersonal skills required. - Knowledge of cash management principles and/or procedures. - Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures. - Ability to analyze and solve problems. - Knowledge of retail floor sales techniques. - Ability to foster collaborative relationships, to work well under pressure, to organize and synthesize new information, and prioritize tasks. - Possesses critical thinking, analytical skills and flexibility. - Ability to multi-task. Required detailed attention to work in an environment where interruptions cannot be controlled. - Demonstrates sensitivity to customer needs and expectations. MANUAL SKILLS REQUIREMENT: Ability to operate a computerized cash register, computer and, fax/printers/copier machine. - Mobility is necessary to deliver merchandise to departments or patient rooms. - Hearing within normal range is necessary in order to safely provide assistance to guests.
