The Role: Sales Director, (Full-time)

Location: California (Remote/Hybrid)

Salary: $100k-$120k + commission incentives

Position Overview:

Our client seeks a dynamic and results-driven Director of Sales in California to lead and execute the sales strategy for a multi-state cannabis cultivation and genetics company. The Director of Sales will play a key role in expanding the California market share, overseeing sales operations, and driving profitability across California. This position requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills, the ability to mentor and manage a high-performing sales team, and a commitment to fostering client relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Sales Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy aimed at market expansion and sustainable profitability. Introduce innovative approaches to increase market share within the region.
  • Regional Sales Oversight: Lead and manage sales operations across multiple locations in California, ensuring sales targets are consistently met or exceeded.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Recruit, train, and mentor a high-performing sales team, providing ongoing coaching to foster talent development and enhance overall performance.
  • Performance Management: Conduct regular performance reviews, set clear objectives for team members, and guide the process to meeting individual and team goals.
  • Market & Sales Analysis: Collaborate with executive leadership to review sales performance, identify market trends, and explore new growth opportunities.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with corporate departments such as Operations, Marketing, and the executive team to ensure best practices are followed and to recommend process improvements.
  • Client Relationship Management: Maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients through collaborative efforts to ensure client satisfaction and long-term partnership success.
  • Key Account Management: Oversee relationships with key accounts, ensuring alignment with company objectives and delivering a high level of client satisfaction.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other tasks as needed to support the company's overall goals.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 4 years in a Sales Manager or senior sales role, with a preference for those with experience serving as a Regional Sales Manager driving new business and maintaining current clientele. (An established book of business with California Dispensaries is preferred.)
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop sales teams to achieve outstanding results.
  • Location & Travel: Based in California with the ability to travel within the state (20-40% travel, occasionally).
  • Flexibility: Willingness to respond to client or team needs, including evenings or weekends, as required.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong ability to measure and analyze key performance indicators to drive data-informed decision-making.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Problem-Solving: Exceptional multitasking, time management, and problem-solving abilities to ensure success across local branches.
