Job DescriptionThe following information provides an overview of the skills, qualities, and qualifications needed for this role.Our client has been an unstoppable force in the food ingredient manufacturing industry for over 80 years! Family-owned and operated, they are known for high-quality ingredients and service. Join them on their exciting journey of taste, quality, and innovation as a Sales Representative! This is a newly created position due to growth. This person will call on food manufacturers and foodservice accounts in the Western Region and should be passionate about new business development! This is a home office role that can be based in California, Oregon, or Washington. (Nevada, Utah, Idaho, Montana, or Wyoming may be considered if this person lives close to a major airport.)

Summary

  • Contact regular and prospective customers to explain product features and solicit orders.
  • Recommend products to customers, based on customers' needs and interests.
  • Answer customers' questions about products, prices, availability, product uses and credit terms.
  • Estimate or quote prices, credit or contract terms and delivery dates.
  • Consult with clients after sales to resolve problems and to provide ongoing support.
  • Identify prospective customers by using business directories, following leads from existing clients, participating in organizations, networking, and attending trade shows and conferences.
  • Monitor market conditions, product innovations, and competitors' products, prices, and sales.
  • Prepare sales contracts and order forms.
  • Negotiate details of contracts and order forms.
  • Experience

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of five years of outside sales experience, in the food industry (ingredient experience a plus!)
  • Contacts with food manufacturers and/or foodservice companies in the territory.
  • Ability to travel (estimated 20-30% of the time) to customers, tradeshows, the company HQ's, etc.
  • Ability to work out of a home office based in the territory.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • CRM experience (Salesforce a plus.)
  • Base salary: $100,000 - $120,000 + Commission (Other benefits include: Medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, PTO, paid company holidays and 401(k) plan.)
