Salary: $26.84 Hourly Location : Henderson, NV Job Type: Part Time Job Number: 0557FEB25-P-AG Department: Utility Services Opening Date: 02/12/2025 Closing Date: 3/17/2025 3:00 PM Pacific Position Overview The City of Henderson announces an examination to establish a consideration for hire list to fill one (1) vacancy for the classification of Sample Custodian (Part-Time) in the Department of Utility Services. The consideration for hire list may be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification for up to one (1) year. Under direct supervision, schedules, coordinates, and receives National Pollution Discharge Elimination System and Safe Drinking Water permit compliance samples and process control samples for processing requirements, and performs related duties as assigned.   • This is a part-time, non PERS-eligible position
  • This position is not eligible for any benefits
  • Work schedule will consist of an average of 19 hours/week. Hours per week may increase or decrease based on Department need
  • The incumbent's schedule will be Tuesdays and Wednesdays during training and then Mondays and Tuesday once training is completed.
  • May be required to work an alternative or flexible work schedule, outside of normal business hours, which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or extended hours.

  • Graduation from high school, or the equivalent, supplemented by college coursework completed in chemistry, biology, science, or a related field
  • Note: An equivalent combination of related training and experience may be considered
  • Must obtain certification from the Nevada Water Environment Association (NWEA) as a Wastewater Quality Analyst In-Training within one (1) year of appointment as a condition of continued employment
  • Must obtain and maintain certification from the NWEA as a Grade I Wastewater Quality Analyst within two (2) years of appointment as a condition of continued employment
  • Possess and maintain a valid Nevada or border state driver's license, as defined by NRS 483
  • Desirable: One (1) year experience working with a laboratory information management system
  • Desirable: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, science, or related field
