Description
The Sanitation Laborer will assume responsibility for cleaning and sanitizing work areas, equipment, all areas of the facility and grounds along with other sanitation duties throughout the facility. They will complete sanitation tasks assigned to them by the Sanitation Supervisor and assist the production department when needed.
Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Breakdown, clean, sanitize, inspect and set up work areas and equipment for all aspects of the facility and return areas and equipment to the necessary production ready conditions. 2. A requirement of this position is to work in small, confined spaces and to work at high levels including the roof top of facility. 3. Operate light to heavy equipment and a variety of hand and power tools in a safe and efficient manner. 4. A requirement of this position is to work 10-12 hours on weekends and occasionally on holidays. 5. May be required to assist in the cleaning of the roaster as specified in Company policies and procedures. This includes preparing area for cleaning, removing filters and doors, applying chemicals, scraping and cleaning, rinsing and returning roaster and surrounding area to a condition to pass quality and production inspections. 6. This individual may be required to be authorized to use a respirator. 7. May be required to be forklift certified for overhead cleaning and moving materials necessary in the completion of tasks. 8. Ensure all chemicals are prepared and documentation completed for roaster cleaning duties and any other sanitation jobs that are assigned. 9. This employee is subject to work in outside environmental conditions and around fumes, odors, dusts and mists. They will be subject to hazards such as working around moving mechanical parts, and exposure to chemicals on a regular basis. 10. While performing these duties, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger to handle/feel or pull, reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk and hear. You will occasionally lift and/or move heavy equipment or parts, 40 to 50 lbs. unassisted, or assist others in moving, shifting, or positioning heavier objects. 11. All employees are directly responsible for the Quality of Olam Edible Nuts products. Each employee must perform their job function in accordance to the GMP Rules and the Sanitation, Safety and FMSA/HACCP Programs. 12. Must follow safe work practices and comply with all company, federal and state rules and regulations which apply to the job, including but not limited to, right to Know, emergency evacuation, electrical safety, confined space, blood borne pathogens, and lockout/tagout.
Preferred Qualifications: 1. High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. 2. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions. 3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
