JOB DESCRIPTION: SanitarianJOB INFORMATION JOB TITLE Sanitarian CLASSIFICATION Hourly / Union DEPARTMENT Sanitation STATUS Full Time REPORTS TO Sanitation Supervisor WORK HOURS 1st Shift - 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM2nd Shift - 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM 3rd Shift - 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM OVERALL PURPOSE OF JOB To keep equipment and buildings clean and sanitized according to standards established by food regulations. Work with timed effort to meet production start-up. Ability to clean the building both inside and outside, processing and packaging equipment to ensure all plant rules (work, safety, and sanitation) and Food Safety regulations are adhered to. Follow all procedures in a safe and sanitary manner, to ensure food packaging equipment is clean and maintained. Assists in production as business requires. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assignment to areas and specific duties and methods given.
  • Keeps oils, waste, and solids out of the sewer system.
  • Maintains equipment and building in sanitary mode for food packaging.
  • Assists in production when needed.
  • Complete production changeovers on time without deficiencies.
  • Housekeeping and cleaning is a requirement.
  • Must be able to work independently and in a group with minimal supervision.
  • Attention to detail is a must.
  • Communicate with the Supervisor on a daily basis.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Working in wet areas cleaning equipment and surrounding areas.
  • Working with chemicals and wearing safety equipment.
  • Ability to respond quickly and react to situations requiring immediate attention.
REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Must be able to work from a man-lift, climb ladders, catwalks, and bin areas to clean machinery 6 feet or more above ground level.
  • Able to work with industrial cleaning chemicals.
  • Must oversee methods and procedures to maintain a clean, safe environment in the production of a quality product.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs., possess mechanical knowledge for disassembly and reassembly of machines.
  • Able to work well with teammates and supervisor.
  • Must have the manual skill and dexterity to move and work around heavy machinery throughout the plant.
  • Must have good basic math skills.
  • Able to communicate clearly in English both verbal and written form.
  • Able to work in a non-climate controlled, fast paced environment.
