Posting DetailsPosting Summary Position Title SAU TRIO Assistant Director Position Code SPRG-ASTDIR-E Job Description Educational Talent Search (ETS), Upward Bound (UB), and Upward Bound Math and Science (UBMS) are federally funded TRIO programs that serve first-generation, low income and disable students. All services provided to ETS and UB participants are incorporated into approved program objectives that meet secondary school completion and postsecondary school entry goals. The Assistant Director for the ETS and UB programs is responsible for assisting the Director in providing staff and programmatic supervision. The ETS/UB Assistant Director will also work as a liaison between the program and all target schools, in addition to attending work-related conferences or workshops.Responsibilities:
- Provide year-round, on-site coordination and leadership of the ETS/UB/UBMS TRIO program initiatives;
- Assist Director on important, time-sensitive business, and in overseeing and assisting staff with institutional and programmatic goals and objectives;
- Act in a supervisory, decision-making, or representative capacity on behalf of the Director, as requested;
- Responsible for designing the TRIO programs for low-income, first-generation, or students who have academic need for services;
- Meet with Director as needed to track progress;
- Maintains individual participant's records or counseling visits;
- Corresponds with parents and participants, as needed;
- Oversees updates of data within computer network;
- Oversee frontline staff with monthly calendars, coordinating visits, stipend reports, and setting up tour transportation to ensure visits to target schools;
- Assist in the completion of the Annual Performance Report (data and narrative) for each program;
- Work with the pre-college TRIO program to recruit participants for tutorial assistance;
- Organize and setup tutorial sites within the target area;
- Meet with participants and parents/guardians to implement tutoring;
- Occasionally meet with target school administration reference tutoring services offered by TRIO, as needed;
- Organize and work with any online tutorial programs;
- Keep record of all participants served by tutoring program, and
- Meet with ETS/UB/UBMS staff on a regular basis, as needed;
- Utilize technical experience for office equipment, troubleshooting, and education tech for learning;
- Assist Director with special projects;
- Other duties as assigned by the Director.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor degree;
- Comparable proven experience working with low income, first generation, traditionally underrepresented and/or disabled students.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Prior experience with ETS/UB and/or other TRIO programs; and
- Experience in a higher education setting, providing advising services or counseling to students who are educationally, economically and otherwise disadvantaged.
Preferred Qualifications Master's degree preferred in Education, Counseling or related fieldPhysical Demands

- Frequent need for oral, written, and auditory communication.
- Valid North Carolina driver's license.
- Must be willing to travel geographically within the designated target area on a regular basis.

- Ability to work in fast paced and/or sometimes stressful situations.
