SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Patient Access/Central Scheduling Manager, the Scheduler is responsible and accountable for working hand in hand with both affiliated and non-affiliated physician#s offices as well as other hospital departments to schedule patients for all types of outpatient procedures/testing. The scheduling of appointments may occur as the result of all of the following: electronic orders received, faxed orders received and phone call orders received. For any appointment scheduled by phone call, the scheduler is responsible for notifying the ordering provider when the ordered test fails medical necessity and may result in patient financial liability. The scheduler functions as a liaison between physician#s offices and other departments of the hospital to ensure excellence in care is maintained throughout the continuum of care.# JOB REQUIREMENTS Education: High School Diploma or GED Experience: 12 to 18 months related healthcare and/or customer service. Certifications: N/A Other: Preferred applicant will have a working knowledge of medical terminology, ICD 10, CPT and HCPCS coding basics. Adaptability to multiple systems is essential.
