Position Type: ProTech (Certified)Date Posted: 7/12/2024Location: Student Support Services School Climate Specialist Position Summary: Responsible for the facilitation and training of positive behavioral intervention support programs and social-emotional learning in the district. This position will provide ongoing support and feedback in the implementation of the district behavioral program. Responsible for staying current in all state laws relating to discipline, district policies. Essential Duties:
  • Facilitates district approved positive behavior support and social emotional learning training.
  • Instructs teams through the development and implementation of behavior assessments/behavior intervention plans to effectively engage in behavior intervention problem solving.
  • Provides professional development utilizing research-based methodologies and approved district curricula.
  • Educates school personnel on research-based methods of classroom management, social and emotional learning/behaviors, and behavioral strategies.
  • Summarizes district and school behavioral data to include the regular monitoring of district discipline data.
  • Facilitates student feedback forums and/or committees.
  • Serves as a social-emotional behavior resource to school climate committees.
  • Monitors/supports the implementation of the district's Tier 1 behavior strategies.
  • Assists and supports schools in creating, monitoring, and implementing behavior goals.
  • Conducts regularly scheduled behavior data meetings with school administration.
  • Delivers positive behavior strategies for special education students on an Individual Education Plan.
  • Serves as liaison between the Office of Tiered Supports and the Special Education Department.
  • Serves as a direct resource to special education teachers with Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP).
  • Serves as a direct resource for behavior intervention resources and restorative practices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities):
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in education or related field.
  • A minimum of (3) years of classroom teaching experience with a standard teaching certificate is required.
  • Leadership skills required.
  • Strong articulation, with exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative manner with all school staff and outside stakeholders.
  • Trained in district approved positive behavioral strategies and social emotional skills or an agreement to complete the training.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record as defined by the district's insurance carrier.
  • Travel and use of personal vehicles to sites required.
Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities): *Relevant experience may be substituted for formal education at a 2:1 ratio. Therefore for every 1 year of college lacking, 2 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted. Physical/Mental Requirements:
  • Must have adequate manual dexterity to write legibly and perform required duties on the computer.
  • Must have adequate visual acuity to read, interpret and transcribe written material and other required duties.
  • Requires normal range of hearing and clear speaking abilities to interact appropriately with others in person and on the telephone.
  • Requires some stooping, bending, stretching and occasional lifting not to exceed 25 pounds.
  • Sitting for prolonged periods of time.
  • May periodically require work outside of normal business hours, including weekends, under sometimes. stressful conditions in order to meet business needs and strict deadlines.
Work Environment:
  • Office duties will be performed in a well-lighted, climate controlled environment.
