To assess and evaluate the total health of each student. To assure that the health needs of the school population are considered in the community's overall health planning. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Conducts school health services and supervises and coordinates the following programs: Immunizations, Strep Throat Cultures, Sports Physicals, blood borne pathogens and pandemic action plan
  • Maintain records of health screening, including vision, hearing, growth and development
  • Collaborate with 504 and IEP plans
  • Establish procedures concerning emergency illness, accidents and first aid.
  • Makes referrals and maintains contact with physicians and community agencies regarding children's health needs.
  • Provides care of students or staff members who have suffered injury or emergency illness.
  • Authorizes exclusions and re-admission of students connected with infections and communicable diseases.
  • Advises teachers on health matters particularly regarding screening for student health defects.
  • Prepares and submits reports for building principals, superintendent and State Board of Health.
  • Attends and participates in workshops that contribute to professional growth.
  • Works as a member of the total school team which has the responsibilities of maintaining the social, emotional and physical health of the students.
  • Acts as a resource person for health information for students, parents, community members, and staff.
  • Assists in coordination of student accident programs and process claims.
  • Uses positive verbal and non-verbal communication and interaction skills when working with students, parents, and all district personnel at all times.
  • Is proficient with Microsoft Office and demonstrates overall computer literacy.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Valid Registered Nurses license with certification through the State Nursing Board and the Professional Teacher Standards Board. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively with numerous audiences via strong written and oral communication skills. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. REASONING ABILITY Ability to develop processes for adjudicating new assignments. Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Registered Nurses license School Nurse Certification Valid Wyoming Driver's License PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
