Position Type: Substitute/School Nutrition SubstituteDate Posted: 8/9/2023Location: System WideDate Available: As NeededClosing Date: Until FilledSCHOOL NUTRITION ASSISTANT *SUBSTITUTE* GENERAL: This is a substitute position with no guaranteed hours. Substitutes are utilized to fill-in for absent regular LCS School Nutrition Assistants. Substitute school nutrition assistants are scheduled in all Lowndes County School kitchens. The typical workday is 6 hours or 4 hours. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds or more of equipment and products. QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or GED Preferred that applicant have demonstrated knowledge of best practices in school nutrition or restaurant experience to include but not limited to: Basic food preparation and service Basic food safety and safety procedures (Serv Safe Certification is a plus) Ability to read, write, and follow recipe instructions. Ability to lift equipment and supplies (+25 pounds) Dependable transportation. Available for varying shift from 6:00AM - 2:00PM. Must report to work in appropriate work attire that includes slip resistant, waterproof shoes (which cover the toes and heels), black/khaki pants, and short-sleeved red or Viking shirt. Jewelry may not be worn to work in the kitchen. Hair and nails must be well groomed. Nails may be no longer than the tips of the finger and no nail polish. A hairnet will be provided. Applicant must successfully pass criminal background check. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Follow recipes to prepare food for the SNP program. Follow procedures to conserve nutrients when preparing and cooking. Use standardized recipes, measuring or weighing ingredients as directed. Follow sanitation and safety procedures. Serve foods throughout each meal period that are attractive, palatable and safe. Monitor temperature of food on serving lines to ensure that no food approaches danger zone temperatures. Portion food to meet nutritional needs of students and to fulfill regulations for fund reimbursement. Implement a clean-up routine that will provide a sanitary and attractive work place that will maintain above 90% scores on health inspection and prevent transfer of bacteria to food. Employ efficient work habits so that productivity is increased and all aspects of the job are completed within the allotted time. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stoop, reach, climb on a ladder, or balance.
