Job Description :

A nonprofit organization in New York City is currently seeking a new, licensed Psychologist for a promising opportunity at one of their schools in Brooklyn. In this role, the School Psychologist will be responsible for providing evaluation, diagnosis & therapeutic intervention, monitoring treatment plans & progress, and conveying intervention techniques to others.Responsibilities:The School Psychologist will:

  • Provide psychological assessment on individuals annually in areas of intelligence and adaptive behavior
  • Develop a treatment plan and goals based on an assessment
  • Provide psychological services as prescribed by treatment plan in areas of behavior management, psychological counseling, crisis intervention, etc.
  • Integrate therapeutic intervention techniques into programs or home of person served through consultation with parent/guardian and staff at team meetings, case conferences or through other informal contacts
  • Record progress on all active cases in therapy, monitors therapy status and makes appropriate recommendations as changes occur
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and annual reviews for purposes of planning, implementation and monitoring of individual plans
  • Participate in pre-admission evaluations
  • Assist with other duties such as arrival and dismissal, feeding, bathrooming, and classroom management, as needed
  • Maintain equipment and orders supplies with approval of supervisor
  • Administer, score, analyze, and interprets diagnostic tests in cognitive and emotional areas
  • Train and instruct program staff in utilization of goals, behavior management, interpretation of test results, etc.
  • Perform other duties, as needed

Qualifications:

  • 1+ year of experience working with the Developmentally Disable population
  • Master's Degree in Psychology and/or a related field
  • NYSED School Psychologist certification
  • Knowledge of standard Psychometric assessment instruments (i.e. Wechsler series, Stanford Binet, etc.)
  • Computer savvy and knowledge of appropriate software
  • Solid assessment and documentation skills
  • Great interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Highly organized
