School Security Officer - Indiana Public Schools : Job Details

School Resource Officers* Applicants must be active law enforcement officers and certified through the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy* Officers will be armed* Officers will be certified as School Resource Officers within 6 months employment* Applicants will be working security at Morton HS, Hammond Central HS, Eggers MS, and/or Scott MS* Officers will assist with disturbances or emergencies on school property during school days or special events involving students, staff, and general public* Officers will assist staff with state mandated drills* Officers will assist school administrators and staff members with overall safety concerns or suspicious activities at the school* Officers will assist with monitoring students and visitors that enter and leave the school* Officers will assist with monitoring students in the cafeteria during lunch periods and with clearing hallways* Officers will maintain a positive presence at all times.* Officers will actively monitor and patrol the schools while on duty.* Officers will work to develop positive relationships with students and staff.* Officers acknowledge that while working for SCH, they report to the building administration and the District School Safety Specialist.
