Job Summary SABIC's Global Application Technology team has an exciting opportunity to join as a Scientist/Engineer! The job requires a strong background in mechanical engineering, materials science, or a related field, with significant experience in plastic processing. As a Scientist/Engineer, you will have the chance to work on emerging technologies such as sustainable polymers, self-driving vehicles, energy storage, and 5G communications. Your responsibilities will include developing part design, advanced processing, and materials knowledge to support SABIC's customers in using their materials in their products.
How You Can Be the Impact - Work in a safe and compliant manner.
- Create and lead research and cross functional development projects from start to finish. Work with internal and external stakeholders to define project deliverables and test protocols for development programs.
- Translate complex technical data into effective knowledge supporting decision making. Document experimental results for internal technical reports, external publications as well as patent applications when appropriate.
- Take a multidisciplinary approach to developing new and existing technologies to deliver tangible business impact. Apply scientific fundamentals including research, experimentation, analysis, and interpretation of results.
- Conduct processing studies with commercial and developmental resins. Optimize processing conditions using data acquisition software and end-product performance testing.
What Matters to SABIC - Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering or Materials Science
- 5 or more years of relevant technical experience in plastic processing areas such as R&D, Manufacturing, or Part Design
- Strong presentation and written communication skills
- Strong hands-on ability and solid understanding of mechanical design principles and part performance
- Demonstrated problem solving capability with experimental design and statistical analysis experience. Experience with JMP, Minitab, or equivalent software preferred
- Must work well in a team atmosphere
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
