The Mayslake Peabody Estate offers a unique opportunity to connect natural and human history. This position provides support in managing the district's artifact collection and assists in the preparation of exhibits.Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Research the background of artifacts.
• Assist in the collection, maintenance, cleaning, photography, and storing of artifacts.
• Enter data in data collection and contact management system.
• Assist in the preparation of exhibits including pulling and installing artifacts.
• Keeping attention to detail in all job-related tasks and record keeping.
• Foster a working environment that promotes safe work habits; Become familiar with and observe all applicable safety rules, policies, and work procedures; Follow all safety rules that pertain to the duties performed and support all aspects of District's safety and risk management program; Keep work area clean, orderly, and free of hazards; Immediately report all unsafe conditions and incidents.
• Maintain a supportive working environment and demonstrates a desire to exceed the expectations of internal and external customers.
• Perform other duties as required.

Requirements:

• Must be 18 years of age or older at the time of hire.
• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in archeology, museum management, humanities, natural history, or a similarly related field is preferred.
• Valid Driver's License in good standing.
• Working knowledge of PastPerfect museum software preferred.
• Previous historical artifact research preferred.
• Basic knowledge of photography.
• Experience working with artifacts and installing exhibits preferred.
• Time management skills.
• Effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
• Building and maintaining effective relationships.
• Keeping neat and accurate records.
• Experience working with database systems preferred.

Schedule: Preferred start date is 3/5/25 - 9/3/25. Schedule varies bast on need but mainly Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.Pay: $15 - $20 per hour.Work Environment: Working primarily indoors at the Mayslake Peabody estate. Will involve frequent use of a ladder and the ability to climb stairs.
