Applications will be reviewed as they are received.The Human Resources Department is currently accepting applications for open positions as Seasonal Grounds Keeper/Park Aides in the Parks and Recreation Division of Operations Department. Work assignments are limited in duration (seasonal) and are based on a full-time basis; days and hours will vary with weekend and holiday work required.Under supervision of District personnel, performs a variety of clean-up, maintenance, and manual work associated with park grounds and recreational facilities within the District.EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES: The duties specified below are representative of the range of duties assigned to this class and are not intended to be an inclusive list.
- Temporary employees assist with various manual tasks such as simple construction and building maintenance, painting, clean-up of grounds and recreational facilities and trails.
- Performs varied maintenance tasks relating to visitor services and safety at recreation facilities. This can include maintenance, repair and cleaning of buildings, restrooms, and picnic areas; repair and maintenance of signs, campgrounds, and surrounding areas.
- May interact with and address customer issues.
- May use a computer to enter and retrieve information related to work assignments and record-keeping
- Follows all safety procedures and rules while at work.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONSKnowledge of: Use of general construction tools and equipment. Safe work practices. Principles of customer service. Record keeping procedures. Basic mathematics. Modern office procedures, methods, and computer equipment.Skill/Ability to: Perform manual and/or physical maintenance and repair tasks associated with recreation facilities. Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. On a continuous basis, know and understand recreation operations, and observe safety rules. Intermittently, sit while studying or preparing reports; bend, or walk for prolonged periods of time, squat, climb, kneel and twist when performing installation/repair of equipment; perform simple and power grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation; and lift or carry weight of 50 pounds or less.Experience and/or Education: Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be:Experience: One year of general construction experience desirable.Education: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONSLicense and Certificate: Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California driver's license at the time of appointment.
