Position Overview6 PositionsAs a City of Billings Parks, Recreation, and Public Lands site coordinator/coach, you will be responsible for overseeing and directing all aspects of the middle school youth sports program, 6th - 8th grade, in one or all of the following sports at their respective site/school, Girls Basketball, Boys Basketball, and Girls Volleyball. You are expected to demonstrate, instruct, and develop basic sport specific skills with participants, 6th- 8th grade. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities include:Coaching, instruction, demonstrating, teaching fundamentals, and enhancing skill development in the game of basketball or volleyball at practices and games. Attend all practices and games, oversee other coaches and assign duties as you see fit, serve as a liaison and communicate with school administration on facility related items, provide facility oversight, assist gym supervisors on game days with setup/tear down, create practice plans; including drills, designate/create team rosters, officiate games, and other duties as assigned. Communicate with and assist Recreation Staff on parent communication, schedules, jersey orders, and creating rosters. All equipment is provided by Billings Parks and Recreation.Duties: Coaches must serve as a positive role model to players, parents, officials, and fellow coaches by following all rules and demonstrating good sportsmanship. Coaches must be able to teach skills through the use of planned practices and games at an appropriate level for each participant. Coaches must be able to organize the players to participate in games while providing a safe and enjoyable environment for all players, giving each child an equal opportunity to participate.Help foster a positive and enjoyable experience for all athletes with an emphasis on safety, fun, growth, development, and being a good teammate. Candidate must have the ability to quickly evaluate information and make decisions and judgment calls. Applicants must be able to resolve conflicts and stay calm while handling disputes.Practices are 2 times a week and games are on Saturday mornings.   • Possess a passion in working with kids
  • Professional, confident, and capable of dealing with players, parents, officials, and fans
  • Pass background check and drug screen (if not employed by School District 2)
  • Reliable transportation to and from practices and games
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
