Position Title: ParaprofessionalReports To: Supervising Teacher and Building PrincipalJob Summary: The Elementary School Paraprofessional at will work under the direction of certified teachers to provide instructional support and assist in maintaining a positive learning environment for students. Your role will be crucial in supporting the educational objectives of the school and ensuring the well-being of students throughout the school day.Key Responsibilities:
Instructional Support:- Assist teachers in implementing lesson plans and delivering instructional materials.
- Work with small groups of students or individual students to reinforce learning concepts.
- Provide one-on-one support to students who require additional help in understanding lessons.
Classroom Management:- Support teachers in maintaining a well-managed and orderly classroom environment.
- Help in monitoring student behavior and implementing discipline strategies as directed by teachers or school policies.
- Assist with organizing classroom materials and maintaining a neat and organized learning space.
Student Assistance:- Assist students with assignments and projects under the supervision of the teacher.
- Guide students in using educational resources and technology during classroom activities.
- Foster a supportive and encouraging atmosphere to enhance student engagement and motivation.
Administrative Support:- Help in record-keeping tasks such as attendance, grading, and student progress monitoring.
- Prepare instructional materials and resources as requested by teachers.
- Assist in organizing and preparing for special events, field trips, and other school activities.
Collaboration:- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other paraprofessionals to support the overall educational goals of the school.
- Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities as required.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework or Paraprofessional Praxis required.
- Previous experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting is desirable.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents.
- Patience, flexibility, and a passion for working with elementary school-aged children.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, sit, and move around the classroom and school grounds as needed.
- Lift and carry instructional materials and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to assist students with physical tasks as required.
Work Schedule:
- Typically follows the school calendar with specific hours determined by the school administration.
- Daily schedule (approximately) 7:15-3:45
