POSITION: #401-CLS-11-24:Middle School SecretaryOrchard Middle School8.0 hours per day/211 days per yearSalary: $22.45 - $24.83 per hourDESCRIPTION: Assist in the school office under the direction of the school office manager to perform a variety of tasks related to the school office. Operate Apple computers, office machines and copy machines. Collect, record, and maintain attendance records for all students. Communicate with students, parents, teachers, and administrators regarding attendance matters. Run daily, weekly, monthly and yearly reports. Input student attendance. Act as registrar and enroll and withdraw students. Organize and maintain student cumulative files and records requests. Work closely with the assistant principal to record and maintain student discipline records. Assist students, parents and teachers. Receive and direct phone calls using a multi-line phone system. Assist with accepting monies and receipting for school purchases, fines and fees. Assist in the health room, including distributing medication to students and taking medication from parents, and notifying parents of ill or injured students. Maintain a positive attitude when dealing with students, parents, and staff to resolve problems. Prepare correspondence as necessary. Willingness to learn new things as systems and processes change. Other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS: Bilingual/biliterate (Spanish/English) required. Strong computer knowledge required - Apple preferred. Skyward experience preferred. Secretarial/clerical experience preferred. Attention to detail and accuracy required. Ability to multitask and work with constant interruptions/disruptions in a fast paced environment. Excellent organizational and communication skills in English and Spanish required, verbally and written. Ability to relate well to a diverse population of students, staff and the public. Good human relations skills. Possession of, or ability to obtain, First Aid/CPR/AED card, as this is required for this position. May require prolonged sitting or standing. High school graduate or equivalent. Attendance and punctuality are important functions of this position.SCHEDULE: OPEN UNTIL FILLED. Retirement benefits are provided through the WA State Department of Retirement Systems (DRS). 180 - 219 Day Employees - Paid leave benefits include 10 days of sick leave, 2 personal leave days and 11 holidays.220 - 259 Day Employees - Paid leave benefits include 10 days of sick leave, 3 personal leave days and 11 holidays.260 Day Employees - Paid leave benefits include 12 days of sick leave, 2 personal leave days, 14 holidays and 12 vacation days.Tuition reimbursement, 50% up to $450 per year for qualified expenses. Benefits may be prorated based upon date of hire/hours per day.Immigration Reform and Control Act Requirement: The recommended applicant, if not a current regular employee, will be required to complete an INS I-9 form and must provide proof of employment eligibility prior to working.Disclosure Statement and Record Check: Pursuant to Chapter 486, Washington Laws of 1987, the recommended applicant, if not a current regular employee, will be required to complete a disclosure form indicating whether he or she has been convicted of crimes against persons listed in the law. In addition, a background check, based on fingerprints, will be requested from the Washington State Patrol & FBI.
