The Security Guard secures the building and grounds of a private club and is responsible for the safety and security of club members, guests, and employees.

Essential Duties

  • Greet employees, vendors, members, or guests who enter the club.
  • Patrol buildings and grounds of private club establishment.
  • Records data, such as property damage, unusual occurrences, and machinery or equipment malfunctioning, for use by supervisory staff.
  • Examines doors, windows, and gates to determine that they are secure.
  • Sounds alarm or calls police or fire department in case of fire, difficulty with unauthorized people, or medical emergencies.
  • Observe departing personnel to guard against theft of company property
  • Warns violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles, and reports culprits to management.
  • Watches for and reports conditions that could result in injury or loss due to fire hazards, leaking pipes, spills, faulty equipment, etc.
  • Maintains on-site security equipment, such as closed-circuit television or online cameras and master key box.
  • Monitor the club for service, safety, and well-being of guests. Assist management staff with the investigation of reported incidents.
  • Follow all company safety and security policies and procedures; report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to lead the management team;
  • Complete safety training and certifications as needed.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of proprietary information and protect company assets.
  • Other applicable duties as assigned

Education and Experience

  • The ability to understand, speak, and read English
  • The ability to understand, speak, and read Spanish is a plus.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required for this position.
  • Must have current state security license required
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of building and grounds, patrolling techniques, admissions & exit rules, and regulations.
  • Display exceptional customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to handle crises calmly and efficiently
  • Proficient in basic computer skills
  • Must have at least 2 years of security or patrolling experience or closely related experience.
  • Frequently convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, clearly, and/or quickly.
  • Understand, remember, follow, and exchange basic instructions, information, and guidelines.
  • Ability to apply common sense reasoning and decision-making to carry out detailed responses to crisis and non-crisis situations.
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality are necessary to perform the essential job duties.
  • Ability to work a rotating shift schedule required.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to sudden or required schedule changes to better serve members.

Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use both hands, is frequently required to stand, sit, stoop, talk, and hear (communicate verbally in person and via regular telephone equipment), and must be able to read computer screens, correspondence and reports in English.
  • Must be able to focus and multi-task in a busy environment, with the ability to successfully handle stressful situations calmly and professionally. This includes effectively managing multiple employees with diverse personalities and engaging them to perform optimally.
  • Walk or stand for 6–8 hours within a given day while patrolling grounds.
  • Hears average or typical conversations and receives ordinary information through verbal communication.
  • Average visual acuity is necessary to prepare or inspect documents or products or observe surroundings.
  • Frequently lifts, transfers, or moves up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequently moves about and climbs stairs or ladders.
  • Able to walk and patrol in various environments such as rain/snow or heat.
