Job DescriptionJob Description/Duties and Responsibilities for Security OfficerCriteria: Monitors CCTV, Duress Alarms, Emergency Phones, Fire Alarms, and all other alarm systems including documentation in the Security Log Book.Conducts Hazard Surveillance tours and takes appropriate actionEstablishes and maintains effective communication with all Team Members. Completes and submits reports, as required. Advises other officers, supervisors and other shifts of pertinent information in a timely manner.Assists with the promotion of fire safety throughout all facilities Criteria: Responds appropriately to Code Red alarms, participates in fire drills, demonstrates required knowledge of fire safety training, provides fire safety training to other staff.Responds appropriately to all internal, external emergency codes and special events. Maintains certification in Response Control Techniques (RCT). Demonstrates knowledge required to respond appropriately to all codes and emergencies.Responds and controls pedestrian and vehicular traffic, as necessary. Administrative Duties Criteria: Logs personal property and provides safekeeping of said property. Conducts package inspection, as assigned.Performs all other duties, as assigned.Other Tasks Which May be Required: Technology. Proficiency in the use of security technology as available at the assigned site including AHECN, IMC, Telecomm duties in a Communication Failure, Decon tent and procedure.Physical Requirements: As defined by Occupation Safety/OMSQualificationsRequired Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma or Equivalent. Uniformed PSS officers are assigned posts and routinely patrol the facilities and grounds to prevent fire, theft, vandalism and unauthorized entry. During their tours, officers visually examine doors, windows and gates to ensure they remain intact and secure. Each PSS team member is highly trained to maintain an atmosphere that is calming to patients and welcoming to their families while also being able to deescalate situations in which emotions run high. All officers are specially trained in response control tactics and techniques and are called to respond to occurrences of workplace violence and fire safety. The PSS team is trained and leads our first response to significant events such as (Code Lockdown & Active Shooter, Abducted Child, Building Evacuation, Bomb Threats, etc.). The PSS team controls card access privileges at each of the medical centers; officers are trained to confront all unauthorized persons and, when necessary, contact local law enforcement for assistance. Additionally, PSS has an Investigations Office, which conducts follow-up investigations for all significant cases (i.e., Suspicion of Drug Diversion, Allegations of Assault, Domestic Violence, Workplace Violence, etc.); and an Emergency Management Office, which is responsible for the oversight, coordination, and implementation of emergency management standards system-wide to facilitate a safe environment.
