  • Controls personnel access by monitoring the identification of individuals entering controlled areas; refers persons who lack proper credentials to a control point to arrange access; issues verbal admonishments for personally observed violations of rules and regulations.
  • Patrols FDIHB property and facilities, by vehicle or foot to check alarms, locks, fences, gates, or other barriers to assure they are appropriately closed and locked or open and unlocked, depending upon the time of the day and the conditions that apply.
  • Patrols FDIHB property and facilities to detect faulty fences, detection equipment and potential trespassing violations. Utilizes a guard tour patrol system to keep record of patrols.
  • Patrols FDIHB property and facilities to prevent theft or damage to hospital property, equipment, tools, supplies, and other real or personal property.
  • Pursues and detains persons fleeing a disturbance/incident or attempting to resist detainment; subdues individuals causing disturbances, such as in family disputes at the worksite or hospital housing; identifies and detains violators based upon eyewitness accounts.
  • Performs duties involving passing of directions and information to law enforcement, coordinating emergency responses between security, fire and other emergency units, and receiving and acting on calls concerning reports of violations or complaints.
  • Performs emergency traffic duties when required, such as enforcing speed limits, directing traffic and controlling the movement of vehicles and pedestrians at the worksite. Observes and reports traffic safety hazards; reports parking violations, and enforces pedestrian right-of-way rules. Accompanies law enforcement officers responding to complaints or reports of alleged disturbances and/or potential crimes. Directs traffic during external or internal disaster drill or actual situation.
  • Prepares various legible written reports; i.e., encounters with individuals such as complainants, witnesses, disruptive employees, disruptive visitors, about unsafe conditions, storage or location of materials (including personal property) that are vulnerable to theft or damage, accident reports, or any other kind of reports that describe events as they happened and that could be used in future actions.
  • Must complete daily activity reports and incident reports by the end of shift.
  • Maintains all required certifications and participates in mandatory security training.
  • Required to successfully pass all AVADE Certifications: Healthcare Defensive Tactics System (HDTS), Handcuffing Tactics Defensive Baton, Pepper Spray Defense, and De-escalation within 30 days of hire. Must successfully pass annual recertification.
  • Keeps issued uniforms clean, pressed, and polished. Keeps all issued equipment in good working condition. Participates in random and routine uniform and equipment inspections.
  • Performs morgue duties and assist in transference of the deceased to the FDIHB morgue.
  • Ensures Security vehicles are maintained/cleaned and all maintenance/damage are reported in a timely manner
  • Effectively communicate via handheld radios. All radio communication must be conducted in a professional manner using proper etiquette.
  • Must be able to take guidance and direction from all Security Supervisors, Officer in Charge, or designee.
  • Assists in conducting investigations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
MANDATORY MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSExperience: (2) years' work related experience in Security, Criminal Justice, Military experience, Emergency Response or an Associate's Degree or higher in Criminal Justice or related field.Education: High School Diploma or Equivalency (HSE).Please email degree or transcripts to [email protected]/INDIAN PREFERENCEFDIHB and its facilities are located within the Navajo Nation and, in accordance with Navajo Nation law, has implemented a Navajo/Indian Preference in Employment Policy.
