Job Type Part-timeDescriptionSalary Range: $20.60-22.88FLSA: HOURLY NON-EXEMPTThe Visitor Service Officer is an employee of The Annenberg Foundation Trust at Sunnylands who reports to the Director of Security and works in partnership with other Trust employees. The Visitor Service Officer will support the Trust on an as-needed basis. Scheduled hours will vary based on the needs of the Security department. The Visitor Service Officer provides security for the facility and ensures the safety of the exhibits, art objects, visitors, guests and staff. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provides a welcoming experience at the Center & Gardens, Historic House and Grounds.
- Monitors all entry points of the Center & Gardens and Historic Estate to prevent unauthorized access into the facility.
- Monitors and controls visitor flow into the Center & Garden spaces at entry and exit points; reporting any issues with visitors flow to Security Manager.
- Collaborates with and supports the Director and Deputy Director of the Center and Gardens to ensure delivery of high-quality visitor experiences through outstanding customer service and identification of opportunities to strengthen visitor experiences.
- Develops a good working knowledge of the facility, the exhibits, and activities taking place within the Center & Gardens and Historic Estate.
- Provide visitors and guests with relevant information regarding tours, special events, programs and The Annenberg Foundation Trust at Sunnylands, while always maintaining a courteous and helpful attitude.
- Accurately answers visitor questions regarding topics including: general information about Annenberg history, the Historic Estate, the Center and Gardens and exhibits; utilizing information received during training.
- Assists visitors with finding their way around the Center and Gardens.
- Enforces the policies and procedures of the Center & Gardens and Historic Estate as directed by the Director of Security,
- Effectively and courteously, communicate with visitors and guests, as necessary, to ensure that exhibits and art objects are not moved or handled inappropriately risking safety and condition.
- Monitors activity in assigned areas and immediately report any discrepancies observed regarding exhibits, art objects, lighting, facility, etc.
- Provides information and monitors conduct of visitors in adherence to site rules at assigned posts.
- Exercises judgement in balancing competing demands, complex operational needs and priorities while remaining professional and providing superior, quality response.
- Monitors radio traffic and maintains radio volume to a minimum, eliminating potential disturbance to guests or other staff.
- Ability to perform life saving techniques, CPR and First Aid and the ability to utilize emergency equipment such as fire extinguishers.
- Responds to medical emergencies and provides direction for guests and staff in case of fire or other emergencies requiring evacuation and/or shelter.
- Escorts staff, guides, volunteers and guests to or from parking lots upon request.
- Responds to visitor concerns and complaints by using instruction and information received during training, reporting any concerns to Security Manager timely and efficiently.
- Provides the Director of Security with incident reports when they occur within the premises of the Center & Gardens and Historic Estate.
- Commits to visitor and guest safety as top priority.
- Commits to not leaving an assigned post until properly relieved by replacement or until approved to do so by Management.
- Ensures uniform and personal appearance is neat and professional and adhere to Trust policy.
- Available to work additional hours or work an extra shift, on occasion, due to department needs.
- Available to work weekdays, weekends, evenings and maintain flexible hours/shifts.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or general education (GED) is required.
- Possession of guard certificate from the State of California within 30 days of hire is required.
- Possession of CPR and First Aid certification within 30 days of hire is required.
- Possession of a valid and unencumbered California driver's license.
- General knowledge and/or experience of enforcement of fire, safety and security measures.
- Prior police officer training or senior security officer experience preferred.

The noise environment in the work environment is usually moderate. The individual must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
