Job Summary:

The Senior Accountant is responsible for preparing accurate and timely financial reports for clients, applying accounting principles and procedures, analyzing financial information, and responding to client questions and concerns.

Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or related field or substantial previous experience, required. CPA certification is preferred, not required.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and payroll.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles. Able to review the work of others.
  • Able to research, correct, and implement new or transitioning accounting clients.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and various accounting software.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides insights, guidance, and explanations to clients regarding financial statements and other financial transactions.
  • Prepares periodic balance sheets, income statements, and other financial statements for clients from various industries. 
  • Prepares payroll, payroll returns, and payroll tax deposits. 
  • Record fixed assets, schedule depreciation, book accruals and other closing entries. 
  • Sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes the books. 
  • Investigates unusual or unknown transactions. 
  • Collaborates with tax team to verify accurate financial statements are ready to use for tax return preparation. 
  • Train, coach, and mentor less-experienced staff. 
  • Recommends updates to enhance the accounting and tax processes. 
  • Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures. 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned. 
  • Become familiar with the firm's policies and procedures.
  • Ensure the confidentiality of each client by following all company procedures regarding information handling.
