Job Summary:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for preparing accurate and timely financial reports for clients, applying accounting principles and procedures, analyzing financial information, and responding to client questions and concerns.
Qualifications:
- At least 3 years of relevant accounting experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or related field or substantial previous experience, required. CPA certification is preferred, not required.
- Knowledge of accounting principles and payroll.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles. Able to review the work of others.
- Able to research, correct, and implement new or transitioning accounting clients.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and various accounting software.
Responsibilities:
- Provides insights, guidance, and explanations to clients regarding financial statements and other financial transactions.
- Prepares periodic balance sheets, income statements, and other financial statements for clients from various industries.
- Prepares payroll, payroll returns, and payroll tax deposits.
- Record fixed assets, schedule depreciation, book accruals and other closing entries.
- Sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes the books.
- Investigates unusual or unknown transactions.
- Collaborates with tax team to verify accurate financial statements are ready to use for tax return preparation.
- Train, coach, and mentor less-experienced staff.
- Recommends updates to enhance the accounting and tax processes.
- Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Become familiar with the firm's policies and procedures.
- Ensure the confidentiality of each client by following all company procedures regarding information handling.
