We work exclusively with Jonathan Rose Companies on select rehabilitation projects where we can leverage our extensive experience in project planning, preconstruction, bidding, and the construction phase to deliver projects on time, on budget, and with the highest level of quality while ensuring prioritization of the residents' wellbeing throughout the design and construction process.Position DescriptionThe Senior Accountant is responsible for focusing on the generation, preparation, and communication of information that is complete and accurate to support effective decision making, management, internal controls, and financial reporting. The individual will be responsible for completing a wide range of general accounting, project accounting and reporting activities. In addition, the individual will be responsible for the corporate accounting and may be responsible for project accounting on 3-6 rehabilitation projects depending on the level of accounting complexity involved.The pay range for this position is $115-125k based upon factors including but not limited to related experience and time in the industry.Essential FunctionsCORPORATE INFRASTRUCTURE ACCOUNTING
  • Prepares monthly financial statements utilized by management including Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Budget to Actuals Variance Report, WIP, and Cashflow Statement. Prepares supporting data and analyses for financial reporting requirements.
  • Prepares corporate bank reconciliations, reconciliations of general ledger accounts of the corporate entities, as required. Supporting independent third-party audits. Performing variance analysis, as required. Provides insights into accounting for complex transactions.
  • Processes corporate accounts payable including data entry, general ledger coding, obtaining proper approvals, preparing check runs and resolving vendor issues.
PROJECT ACCOUNTING JOURNAL ENTRIES:
  • Prepares and analyzes journal entries on both GAAP and tax basis including but not limited to: standard entries, applicable reclassifications / adjustments, review of all income and expenses, accruals, overhead allocations, consolidations and eliminations, and intercompany transactions.
Reports:
  • Prepare and distribute monthly reports for projects including Budget Snapshot, Buyout Summary, General Conditions Forecast, Profitability Projection, and Billing Summaries.
  • Provide support data and analysis to aid Ownership in creation of their monthly budget variance reports.
Support Data & Analysis:
  • Provide support data and analyses for change orders and invoices processing and approvals
  • Manage the preparation, processing, and approvals of the monthly requisition for assigned projects.
  • Establish projects and vendors in the accounting and project management systems working with external providers to ensure seamless integration between the two.
  • Maintain all insurance certificates and ensure they are current and in compliance by working with our in-house risk department.
General Accounting:
  • Facilitates disbursements via check or wire transfer upon receipt of funding.
  • Manages cash balances.
  • Ensures that all expenses, receipts, owner's distributions, funding requests and other transactions for the accounting period have been accurately posted.
Non-Accounting Functions:
  • Act as the Subject Matter Expert of our accounting system and its integration to our Project Management System
  • Ensure adherence to company standard operating procedures and budget management protocol
  • Further evolve our process and procedures
Education Requirements and/or Years of Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required.
  • 5-10 years of experience in public accounting and/or real estate accounting preferred. 10+ years of relative work experience can offset minimum educational requirements.
  • CPA preferred.
Skills
  • Advanced knowledge of general accounting principles and processed required.
  • Analytical background with detail-oriented mindset required.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage time to meet deadlines required.
  • Ability to perform quality assurance reviews required.
  • Knowledge of accounting software systems required.
