Girl Vow, Inc. is a city-wide nonprofit organization founded on the principle of gender-focused intensive mentorship for girls and gender-expansive youth aged 12 to 24 impacted by foster care, juvenile justice, and poverty. The organization aims to provide girls and gender-expansive youth with the foundation and support they lack through comprehensive, intensive mentorship, crisis management and aftercare, life skills workshops, and leadership opportunities. We work with girls at any stage of the juvenile justice process, and we are currently in secure and non-secure facilities throughout NYC, including Rikers Island and upstate prisons. Within the last year, we wrote legislation that was signed by the governor to establish a task force for missing and murdered women and girls of color. The law became effective March 26th, 2024.

Girl Vow is seeking a Sr. Administrative Assistant to support our leadership team in executing the administrative functions of the office and organization. The person in this role will be the right hand to the CEO and a liaison between the CEO and the Board of Directors. It's essential for the person in this role to have a deep understanding of mission-based, non-profit work and want to be part of a proactive, entrepreneurial-minded team, positively impacting the lives of girls and gender-expansive youth impacted by foster care, juvenile justice, and poverty.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepare letters, memos, meeting minutes, spreadsheets, presentations, agendas, reports, budgets, and other documents.
  • Manage the Executive Directors' and organization's overall contact list.
  • Maintain a calendar of meetings and events.
  • Read, research, and analyze information.
  • Screen incoming calls, take and deliver messages, and provide responses to routine questions.
  • Manage special and confidential projects.
  • Manage sensitive matters with a high level of confidentiality and discretion.
  • Organize and coordinate outreach and external relations efforts.
  • Ensure that the office runs smoothly whether the Executive Director is in-office or away.
  • Balance, execute, and complete multiple priorities with budgets.
  • Coordinate travel plans for the Executive Director, including airfare, hotel, car rental, etc.
  • Represent Girl Vow and its Executive Director in a positive light.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years' experience in administrative support
  • Previous work in a non-profit environment is preferred.
  • Experience using MS Office Suite, Excel, and Google Suite.
  • Experience supporting Director's or C-Suite individuals
  • Above average written and verbal communication skills
  • Must live in NYC - adhere to a hybrid schedule
