About the Role:Grade Level (for internal use):11Position: Senior Analyst, Insurance RatingsThe Role: The ideal candidate for this role is a highly motivated individual with strong analytical, research, as well as verbal and written communication skills. This is a high visibility client facing role with exposure to issuer C-suite level executives. The Senior Analyst will be expected to work well independently and as an integral part of a team. The candidate will meet tight deadlines, work well under pressure, demonstrate initiative, handle multiple assignments, and organize priorities among issuers, investors, analysts, and editors.Primary responsibilities include fundamental credit analyses for property/casualty (P/C) insurance and reinsurance companies and publishing credit opinions to the market. The Senior Analyst will lead all aspects of the ratings process, from quantitative analytics, engaging with issuers, presenting in committees, and publishing analytical reports. The candidate will also conduct timely analysis on emerging and complex industry topics including quantitative modeling leading to credit insights, market evaluations, and industry commentaries.The Impact:

The Career Opportunity:As a Senior Analyst, you are working as part of a diverse team of credit analysts in the North American Financial Services Ratings (P/C Re/insurance) group in S&P Global Ratings. With the guidance of senior analysts and support from junior analysts, a qualified Senior Analyst typically covers 10-12 insurance credits and is responsible for their ongoing surveillance and performs advanced fundamental credit analysis, forecasting, and industry analysis.The Team / The Business: When you join S&P Global Ratings and the North American Financial Services Ratings group, you join one of the world's leading providers of independent credit risk research and benchmarks in corporate finance. You are part of a team that produces high quality fundamental research based on established criteria in a fast-paced environment.Compensation/Benefits Information: (This section is only applicable to US candidates) S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $85,700 to $170,400. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual's geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses and certifications. What We're Looking For: Basic Required Qualifications:
  • BA or BS required, preferably in finance, accounting, business, insurance, or mathematics.
  • Advance Degree, MBA/CFA, achieved or progress preferably.
  • 2-4 years of experience, preferably in credit and/or insurance-related field.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in financial modeling and forecasting.
  • A good understanding of financial statement analysis and accounting concepts under GAAP, and IFRS.
  • Understanding of fixed income markets.
  • Ability to quickly absorb, analyze, and act upon information, while demonstrating strong proficiency with figures and the ability to maintain accuracy and be detail oriented while complying with deadlines.
  • Strong Excel/Word/PowerPoint and database application skills.
  • Solid communication skills, verbal and written, as well as the capacity to expand, learn, and make a contribution. English communication skills should be strong - both verbal and written.
  • Highly organized with the ability to multitask and work under time pressure.
  • Permanent Work Authorization for the United States is required.
