POSITION: Senior Associate, Real Estate Transaction Services DESCRIPTION: The Sr. Associate will work in a team of real estate finance and development professionals on projects central to NYC's economic development and housing goals. The Sr. Associate will manage multiple real estate transactions from inception to closing and will perform financial analyses to help the City evaluate a project's economic impact.
  • Manage multiple real estate and/or financing transactions
  • Assist in negotiating contracts of sale, leases, and funding agreements
  • Build and maintain detailed financial models of major New York City development projects (measuring, among other things, pro forma IRRs and NPVs)
  • Prepare site development and project feasibility analyses
  • Draft requests for proposals
  • Analyze and present findings and recommendations to project teams and senior staff in written and verbal form and brief senior officials of NYCEDC and other City agencies on project status
  • Conduct presentations to elected officials, community stakeholders and NYCEDC Board
  • Collaborate with colleagues in other departments in NYCEDC, such as Legal, Planning, Government & Community Relations and Development
  • Foster and manage relationships with real estate developers, attorneys, urban planners, consultants, elected officials and community stakeholders
REQUIREMENTS: Master's degree or a foreign equivalent in Business, Real Estate Development, Housing Finance, Public Policy, or Urban Planning. Education, training or experience to include:
  • Urban planning, economic development, real estate development, housing finance, law and/or public policy
  • Developing economic models in Microsoft Excel
  • Project management duties including project implementation from conception to completion
  • Understanding of affordable housing programs and NYC government processes
  • New York City residency required within 180 days of hire
