Serco Inc. is seeking a Senior AWS Cloud Engineer to join our talented team (100% Remote). If youre looking for a high profile and challenging AWS Cloud Engineer position supporting Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS), then Serco has a great opportunity for you! The remote Network Engineer position will be on a dynamic team, supporting our CMS program based out of Herndon Virginia.

Serco supports the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, a federal agency within the United States Department of Health and Human Services that administers the Medicare program and works in partnership with state governments to continue supporting eligibility determinations for consumers purchasing health insurance through the Federal Health Insurance Exchanges.

You will play a critical role in the systems and network security operations daily processes, planning, implementation, documentation and troubleshooting of a large commercial hybrid cloud environment. You will be responsible for planning, implementation, and expansion of our AWS cloud infrastructure. This successful candidate will have experience with automation in AWS and will build release and manage the configuration of all production systems utilizing continuous integration and deployment methodologies.

The Senior AWS Cloud Engineer will work alongside architecture team and will provide technical leadership for the engineering team while enduring systems meet all security requirement following best practices and required standards. This engineer will recommend process and architecture improvements and will troubleshoot issues and prevent issues from re-occurring across the enterprise.

This position requires flexible working hours; you must be willing to be on-call, work evenings, and/or weekends as needed for troubleshooting or implement changes

In this role you will:

  • Work in tandem with our solutions architects and systems engineering team to identify and implement the most optimal cloud-based solutions for the company and its customers.
  • Migrate, implement, and maintain AWS serverless ECS environment.
  • Have knowledge of server to serverless domain services and migration.
  • Develop and implement capabilities to reduce time to delivery of platforms through orchestration and automation.
  • Assist with AWS network routing and identify issue within environment.
  • Help with network and Edge security appliances and firewalls.
  • Work deployments as Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • Manage Sercos cloud environments in accordance with company security guidelines.
  • Deploy and debug cloud initiatives as needed in accordance with best practices throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Automate repetitive, manually time-consuming O&M tasks.
  • Educate and mentor system engineering team on the implementation of new cloud-based initiatives, providing associated training as required.
  • Employ exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to see and solve issues before they cascade into problems.
Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • United States Citizenship/Green Card required
  • Willing to be on-call and work evening and weekends as needed for troubleshooting or implement changes
  • A Bachelors degree in IT or a related field
    • Or a High School Diploma with 9 years of relevant IT experience
  • Minimum 5 years of related IT experience
  • Understanding of AWS best practices
  • Experience with AWS Elastic Container Services
  • Experience with Containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Knowledge of AWS serverless computing
  • Experience in implementing automation in Cloud environments
  • Experience deploying new AWS environments and services
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation for automating network infrastructure provisioning and configuration
  • Experience working with ECS migration (server to serverless/AWS services)
  • Storage migration migration from on-prem to AWS
  • Backup management on-prem and cloud backup management, design, engineering, and troubleshooting
  • Microsoft Active directory configuration experience, including Group Policy Object management and troubleshooting and Active Directory Federation Services configuration and integration with AWS systems
  • Windows DNS and AWS Route 53 experience
  • Windows and Linux (RHEL) Server management experience
  • Strong awareness of networking and internet protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP, and distributed networks
  • Experience with load balancer configuration management and troubleshooting F5 Big IP and AWS ELB experience
  • Cost estimation, cost control and right sizing solutions experience in AWS
  • Expert knowledge of AWS cloud technologies, both from the IT infrastructure and IT applications perspective
  • Ability to configure environments to efficiently log to a centralized SIEM such as Splunk
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to mentor and train internal technical teams
  • Ability to write clear and concise documentation of systems and procedures
  • Ability to read, understand, and apply information from technical manuals
  • Ability to plan, organize, meet schedules, and timelines for assigned work
  • Ability to travel up to 10%

Additional desired experience and skills:

  • Familiarity with network engineering principles Cisco, Palo Alto, AWS VPC/Security Groups

In compliance with state and local laws regarding pay transparency, the salary range for this role is $83,365.11 to $138,941.85; however, Serco considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills.
