Location: New York, NY | Salary: $150k - $210k + 0.1-1% Equity

Our client, a VC-backed startup revolutionizing robotics software development through AI-powered developer tools, is seeking a Principal Backend Engineer to architect their next generation of infrastructure. Having recently launched their first product with strong market reception, they're ready to scale their backend systems to support rapid growth.

You'll be the first dedicated backend engineer, working directly with a founding team of engineers from Anduril, Apple, Nvidia, and Microsoft. This is an opportunity to architect entirely new backend infrastructure supporting the next wave of robotics, industrials, aerospace, and autonomous vehicle development.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead architecture and development of new backend infrastructure
• Build secure, compliant cloud environments (AWS GovCloud, sensitive on-prem deployments)
• Shape engineering culture and processes in a rapidly growing team
• Drive technical decisions across the entire product lifecycle
• Collaborate closely with a talented founding team

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years of backend software engineering experience
• Deep expertise in compliance-sensitive environments (AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, etc.)
• Strong systems programming background (C++, Python, or Rust)
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS
• Previous success in high-growth startup environments
• CS degree from top university
