About the Role: The Senior Benefits Analyst will manage employee benefit plans and programs and provide technical information to employees and management for Spellman's High Voltage. The Senior Benefits Analyst is responsible for documenting process changes and leading process improvement initiatives. Senior Benefits Analyst assists with the development, implementation and administration of Spellman's total rewards programs with an emphasis on benefit areas. The analyst develops plan materials, leads projects, and monitors market trends to ensure program effectiveness. The role designs and executes solutions based on business goals and strategy and administers system-wide benefit programs. Identifies and implements opportunities for plan improvements to benefit programs based on market analysis to ensure external competitiveness. The analyst provides strategic guidance and direction, leaders, employees, retirees, and human resource staff on the system-wide benefit programs. In addition, the analyst works with Payroll, Recruitment, HR Service Center, HRIS, Information Systems and Finance to implement and communicate various benefit data and changes along with answering general and complex questions.
What You Will Do: - Serve as the primary point person for the day-to-day operations (benefit administration, questions and issue resolution) of health, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, flexible spending accounts, HSA, and leave management, and wellness programs.
- Administer the retirement programs and related processes, including funding approval, withdraw requests, and compliance testing/audits.
- Partner with benefits brokers and carriers to ensure efficient administration of all employee benefits including addressing employee inquiries.
- Lead the annual open enrollment cycle, manage open enrollment for benefits, and ensure the accuracy of open enrollment elections to carriers at the end of the year/beginning of the new year.
- Administer leave management programs, including short- and long-term disability, FMLA, state leave, accommodation requests as well as workers compensation.
- Oversee vendor file feeds, data file reviews, and discrepancy reports
- Document and maintain administrative procedures for assigned benefits processes.
- Partner with Senior Manager Compensation/HRIS to complete annual compliance requirements such as ACA reporting, Form 5500/SAR, compliance notices, state leave laws, annual retirement plan audits and maintaining internal policy updates.
- Partner with the payroll department to ensure proper benefits deductions or payments are made on a timely basis
- Develop and maintain benefit information and policies on internal communication resources.
What You Need:
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, Industrial Psychology, or related field required.
- Minimum of 6 years' experience related to U.S. benefits such as retirement and health and welfare benefits (e.g., medical, dental, vision, life), including some experience involving leave and disability administration and related federal, state and local leave laws
- Ability to efficiently manage vendors and workflows through a variety of systems (e.g., Workday, Reliance Standards) and build/maintain workflow reference materials for stakeholders
- SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred.
- Thorough understanding of local, state, and federal laws involving employment, HR, and benefits administration.
- Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filling and compliance requirements, both adopted and pending, affecting employee benefits programs, including the ACA, ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, Section 125, workers' compensation, Medicare, COBRA, LOA, Retirement, and Social Security, and DOL requirements.
- Must be able to research information and analyze data to arrive at valid conclusions, recommendations, and plans of action.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
This position offers a hybrid work model, blending remote flexibility with required in-office days for optimal collaboration and productivity at Spellman High Voltage headquarters in Hauppauge, NY. Our good faith estimate of the salary range for this role is $90,000. to $102,000. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and other factors. In addition to base pay, we offer a highly competitive benefits package.
