The forecasts are used to make many decisions, such as automatically order hundreds of millions worth of inventory, decide where to place that inventory, and establish labor plans for WW warehouses.We are looking for a Sr. Business Intelligence Engineer to lead the development of new tools to monitor and improve forecast health. You will do this by detecting, diagnosing and correcting forecast problems and generating metrics and insights. You will have the resources and tools to help you deliver this mission and support from partner teams like Data Engineering/Data Science/Product.A successful candidate will be customer obsessed - the Forecasting org has 50+ unique customers. You will need to balance long-term thinking with short-term actions. You will be comfortable navigating an ambiguous environment, know how to confirm and reconfirm assumptions, and be able to harmonize disparate points of view.Key job responsibilitiesDevelop solutions that utilize the highest standards of analytical rigor with data integrity to provide reporting against large, multi-dimensional datasets and multiple sourcesPartner with scientists, engineers, product managers, and program managers to build and productionize forecasting metrics; perform analysis to identify the root cause of issues and generate actionable insights to guide the appropriate solutionEngage stakeholders in constructive dialogues to convert business problems into logic problems that can be solved with data, statistics, and scriptingBuild internal and customer-facing dashboards to provide metrics and convey insights which highlight forecast performance and explain varianceManage and execute entire projects or components of large projects from start to finish including project management, data gathering and manipulation, data modeling and finding synthesis, and communication of insights and recommendationsMentor team members by coaching them on the analytics lifecycle, including identifying the optimal analytical method, building and automating the solution, and generating insights from the resultsA day in the lifeEngage regularly with customers to identify and prioritize forecast improvement opportunitiesDefine and deliver a long-term vision to solve the customer's problems and improve forecast accuracyLead the definition and governance of key business metrics, and engineer data-driven processes that drive business valueCreate and foster an environment that values and promotes an inclusive approach to problem solving and continuous learningAbout the teamWe are ASIN Forecasting Analytics Team. We monitor the ASIN demand and inbound inventory forecasts for Amazon Businesses WW. We report on historical forecast performance, the changes of future forecasts, and the health of future forecasts.We develop intervention models to correct forecasts when defects exist or for scenarios that are not addressed adequately by core models. In addition to forecast accuracy, we help manage forecast volatility.We partner with stakeholder teams to assess the future forecast against existing supply conditions.Basic Qualifications7+ years of professional or military experience6+ years of SQL experienceExperience programming to extract, transform and clean large (multi-TB) data setsExperience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar toolsExperience in scripting for automation (e.g. Python) and advanced SQL skills.Experience with theory and practice of design of experiments and statistical analysis of resultsExperience with theory and practice of information retrieval, data science, machine learning and data miningExperience with AWS technologiesMaster's degree in statistics, data science, or an equivalent quantitative fieldExperience managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadershipPreferred QualificationsExperience working directly with business stakeholders to translate between data and business needsAmazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace. The base pay for this position ranges from $117,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $202,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
