Job Overview

Aegis has partnered with a large manufacturing firm near the Savannah, GA area that is seeking a Senior Buyer to join their team. The Senior Buyer will play a critical role in overseeing procurement activities, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials, equipment, and services essential for production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute purchasing strategies to ensure a steady supply of materials and equipment while optimizing costs.
  • Source, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, cost, delivery, and reliability.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers to secure favorable terms and pricing.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure long-term partnerships.
  • Monitor supplier performance and address issues related to quality, delivery, or compliance.
  • Conduct supplier audits and assessments to ensure adherence to company and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with production and inventory teams to maintain optimal stock levels.
  • Implement cost-saving initiatives and identify opportunities for continuous improvement in procurement processes.
  • Analyze market trends to anticipate material cost fluctuations and mitigate risks.
  • Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, contracts, and supplier agreements.
  • Support internal audits and reporting requirements related to procurement activities.
  • Work closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to align purchasing decisions with business objectives.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior procurement staff.
  • Lead or participate in cross-functional initiatives to enhance supply chain efficiency.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5–7 years of procurement experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 2 years in a senior or leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of supply chain principles, purchasing methodologies, and contract management.
  • Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and procurement software.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations.
  • Exceptional negotiation and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate across departments and with external stakeholders.
