Job Overview
Aegis has partnered with a large manufacturing firm near the Savannah, GA area that is seeking a Senior Buyer to join their team. The Senior Buyer will play a critical role in overseeing procurement activities, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials, equipment, and services essential for production.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute purchasing strategies to ensure a steady supply of materials and equipment while optimizing costs.
- Source, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, cost, delivery, and reliability.
- Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers to secure favorable terms and pricing.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure long-term partnerships.
- Monitor supplier performance and address issues related to quality, delivery, or compliance.
- Conduct supplier audits and assessments to ensure adherence to company and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with production and inventory teams to maintain optimal stock levels.
- Implement cost-saving initiatives and identify opportunities for continuous improvement in procurement processes.
- Analyze market trends to anticipate material cost fluctuations and mitigate risks.
- Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, contracts, and supplier agreements.
- Support internal audits and reporting requirements related to procurement activities.
- Work closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to align purchasing decisions with business objectives.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior procurement staff.
- Lead or participate in cross-functional initiatives to enhance supply chain efficiency.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5–7 years of procurement experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 2 years in a senior or leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of supply chain principles, purchasing methodologies, and contract management.
- Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and procurement software.
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations.
- Exceptional negotiation and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate across departments and with external stakeholders.
