Objectives: 7B Building and Development is looking to expand the Estimating department with the addition of a humble, hungry, and smart Estimator!
The addition of the Estimator role plays a large part in the success rate at which our company is growing. The objectives of this position are to aid the Senior Estimator in the bidding and estimating processes from the beginning of a project to completion. The main goal for the Estimator is to be able to fully estimate a project from putting a project out to bid to its turnover. This will be accomplished in numerous ways, but the focus of our Estimator position is the responsibilities below.
Estimator Responsibilities:
1. Analyze drawings and specifications.
2. Understand contractual terms and conditions.
3. Adhere to Estimating Team Processes, Expectations, and Responsibilities
4. Assemble accurate and well-organized bid packages and publish jobs out to bid to subcontractors & vendors in a timely manner.
5. Provide clear & detailed quantity take offs.
6. Organize subcontractors' quotations.
7. Negotiate to ensure quotes meet contract documents and issue proper documented scope of work purchase orders.
8. Write and approve change orders.
9. Monitor progress and identify any potential risks throughout a project.
10. Maintain relationships with subcontractors and vendors.
11. Ensure site office personnel are provided with proper documentation related to projects.
12. Work with and deal with concerns of the Senior Estimator, Project Manager, & other office personnel.
13. Approve subcontractor and vendor submittals.
14. Meet with potential clients to discuss options for proposed services.
15. Receive and review drawings for compliance and submit to the architects any RFIs during the bidding phase.
16. Other duties as assigned.
Estimator Requirements:
1. Bachelor's Degree or 3+ years' experience in construction estimating
2. Proficient with MS Office Word and Excel
3. Proficient with estimating software
4. Understanding this role will require more than 40 hours a week. 50- 60 hours a week will be required during busy months.
5. Ability to interpret and estimate according to plans, specifications, and other documents
6. Ability to multi-task, work on tasks for multiple projects, and adhere to strict deadlines
7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
8. Outstanding organizational skills
9. Ability to identify and solve problems, and to make corrections in a timely manner
10. Strong understanding of commercial construction processes
