Job Description

The Senior Construction Manager provides the onsite leadership, coordination, and direction for construction management activities for multiple or complex projects. Duties include ensuring the project(s) are on budget, schedule, and the design fits the requirements for the contracts. Will supervise construction management team, which may consist of Construction Manager(s), Assistant Construction Manager(s), Field/Project Engineer(s), field administrative staff and other project staff as assigned.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The Senior Construction Manager is responsible for providing the following services or for supervising the Construction Management team members who perform these services:

  • Implement schedule, cost, quality, communication, decision-making, use tools and processes for multiple projects
  • Support program and project controls activities through schedule control, cost control, change management, risk management and reporting tools
  • Build a cooperative partnership between client, contractors and all stakeholders to ensure timely resolution of project issues and the overall success of the project
  • Provide effective risk management and mitigation practices through proper risk identification, assessment, tracking, and communication
  • Understanding and development of start-up and commissioning plans and identify associated resources as necessary
  • Responsible for the enforcement of contract documents including plans and specifications
  • Provides construction management services on multiple or complex projects
  • Strong knowledge of contracts, drawings, estimates, and specifications to ensure compliance with project requirements for projects
  • Responsible as onsite liaison with contractor and oversight of progress of construction
  • Coordinates, directs, and monitors activities of contractors/subcontractors, engineers, architects, and related performing entities
  • Manages project controls, cost, schedule, performance activities, and procedures or as required by the client
  • Conducts project meetings and provides meeting minutes, documentation, administration, and tracking of relevant information
  • Ensures contractors, architects, and engineers will adhere to contractual requirements on areas of safety, performance, project staff, and equipment
  • Provides management of project logistics, organization and safety
  • Ensures project closeout to obtain guarantees, warranties, and related provisions for turnover to the owner, including closeout requirements
  • Ensures project team adheres to safety requirements
  • Performs other duties as required to ensure project success

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or Architecture is required
  • 10 years of experience on major construction projects performing construction management
  • Construction Management experience on projects valued at $15M and greater
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the use of computers to prepare reports using Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of construction scheduling including experience with P6
  • Shall have the ability to work proactively in a high-paced environment and willingness to adjust and respond effectively to change
