Senior Controller/Manager, FP&A - Healthcare Organization, Houston

The Opportunity: We are seeking a highly motivated and hands-on Senior Controller/Manager, FP&A, to join our dynamic team. This key role will oversee financial operations, including the preparation of financial statements, budgeting, and the month-end close process. You will also be responsible for providing critical financial analysis and reporting to management and the Board of Directors (BOD), while helping to streamline systems and processes to improve efficiency. Position Responsibilities:
Financial Management:
- Oversee and manage daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets.
- Prepare and present accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
- Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections.
- Coordinate and lead financial audits.
Reporting and Analytics:
- Spearhead the development and implementation of a comprehensive reporting and analytics strategy.
- Generate insightful reports and analysis to support informed decision-making.
- Assist in preparation of the monthly financial deck and quarterly BOD meeting materials for the executive leadership team and BOD.
- Liaise with banks for compliance and reporting.
Development & Maintenance:
- Update budgeting workflows for the annual budgeting process.
- Collaborate with departments to ensure accurate financial reporting, budgeting, sensitivity analysis, and long-range planning.
System Administration and Implementation:
- Work with the accounting team to produce various reports, including weekly cash flow, monthly financials, etc.
- Lead and partner with senior leaders to ensure data integrity and financial results.
- Manage the project lifecycle from requirement gathering to post-implementation support.
- Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging technologies.
- Enhance financial systems and processes to optimize efficiency and accuracy.
Process Improvement:
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives within accounting and finance to streamline budgeting, monthly reporting, and support enterprise goals.
- Analyze and refine Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and performance management metrics.
Internal Controls and Risk Management:
- Develop, implement, and maintain robust internal control systems and procedures.
- Manage risk assessment processes to protect the organization from potential financial liabilities.
Team Leadership:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability within the finance department.
Other:
- Undertake various ad-hoc tasks as required.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. MBA or advanced degree.
- Professional certifications such as CFA, CPA, or CMA, is required.
- Minimum of 7+ years of experience in a finance or accounting role within the healthcare industry.
- Strong Excel skills and proficiency with financial systems.
- Knowledge of GAAP and experience with EMR systems (specifically revenue cycle and close processes). Experience with IMS (EMR system) is a plus.
- Proven experience in financial reporting, data analysis, and KPI development.
